What is a cosmetics peptide serum?

A peptide serum is a lightweight facial serum that features one or more cosmetic peptides — short chains of amino acids used as skin-conditioning ingredients. Brands position peptide serums as helping skin look firmer, smoother, and more supple, with a hydrating finish, as part of a daily routine.

The category is also sold as a multi-peptide serum or peptide complex serum. Our existing PDRN serum already combines PDRN with peptides; this page covers dedicated peptide serums where peptides lead the formula and the label story.

Common cosmetic peptides (INCI descriptions)

Peptides are chosen in the formula brief. Below are frequently requested ones, described by INCI name and typical cosmetic role only:

  • Palmitoyl tripeptide-1 and palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 — signal-type peptides often supplied together as a blend; used for a firmer-looking, smoother-looking finish.
  • Acetyl hexapeptide-8 (often referred to by trade names) — a widely used peptide in expression-line-focused serums, described in appearance terms only.
  • Copper tripeptide-1 — a copper-complexed peptide that gives formulas a characteristic blue tint; used as a skin-conditioning ingredient.
  • Palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 — a long-standing cosmetic peptide in firming-look serums.
  • Carrier and supporting peptides — oligopeptides and soy or rice peptides for hydration and texture.

Peptide levels are set as formulation choices and confirmed on the spec sheet; supplier dossiers are provided for your regulatory file.

Peptide serum vs PDRN serum

Both are serums, but the lead ingredient differs. A peptide serum builds its story around a peptide set; the PDRN serum leads with polydeoxyribonucleotide sodium and uses peptides in a supporting role. Many partners carry both: a peptide serum for a firming-look line and a PDRN serum for a plumping-look line, under shared artwork and one sampling round.

Formats, textures & pairings

  • Dropper serum ~15–50 ml — glass or PET; 30 ml is the most requested size.
  • Airless pump ~30–50 ml — protects copper-peptide and multi-active formulas.
  • Ampoules — for sampling and kits.

Textures range from watery essence to light gel. Common pairings include hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, panthenol, ceramides, and squalane. Copper peptides are usually kept separate from strong acids and L-ascorbic acid; we flag compatibility at the brief stage, and a vitamin C serum can be offered as a separate morning SKU.

OEM private-label path

  1. Formula brief: texture, key ingredients, fragrance choice, target markets.
  2. Proposed INCI list and spec sheet for your review.
  3. Packaging: dropper bottle or airless pump, label, and carton artwork.
  4. Lab samples and revisions, then pilot or bulk production.
  5. MOQ quoted per SKU, based on formula and components.

Wholesale & range building

Salon groups, retailers, and distributors can request a price list and carton-based MOQ tiers for peptide serum programs. In a Clearion Labs range, the peptide serum sits after rice toner and before a ceramide moisturizer or PDRN cream, with the hypochlorous acid spray facial mist as a refreshing first step.

Compliance: cosmetics claims by market

Peptide serum claims must stay within the cosmetics regulations of each destination — US cosmetics labeling, EU Cosmetics Regulation (CPNP notification and Responsible Person), UK, and ASEAN notifications. We provide INCI, specs, stability notes, and supporting documents; final claims are your brand's responsibility and should describe appearance and feel, such as firmer-looking, smoother-looking, hydrated skin.

We do not support comparisons to clinic procedures or drug-type claims for any peptide.

Cosmetics disclaimer

Clearion Labs peptide serum products and formulas are cosmetics / personal care intended for topical use on intact skin to hydrate and condition its appearance. They are not drugs or devices, make no disease-related or physiological claims, and are not offered for any clinic procedure. Partner claims must comply with the cosmetics regulations of each market.
